Get Started with JAUS 🚀

Here you’ll learn how to install JAUS Userscripts and benefit from them!

It consists of just 3 steps:

  1. Install a Userscript Manager Browser extension

  2. Install a JAUS Userscript

  3. Using the Userscript

1) Installing a Userscript Manager extension

Userscripts are only able to be installed and executed through a Userscript Manager - also sometimes referred to augmented browsing software.

Userscript Managers are Browser extensions that allow you to install Userscripts, update them, edit them and create new Userscripts from scratch.

There are several Userscript Managers available (Wikipedia list here), but we have had a good experience with https://violentmonkey.github.io/.

Violentmonkey is Open Source and has a very simple and clean interface. It’s also available to many different Browsers and the interface is the same.

2) Installing a JAUS Userscript

Once you’re done installing the Userscript Manager, all you need to do is open any script that ends with .user.js and the Userscript Manager will automatically intervene and ask you if you want to install the Userscript. Just accept & install and you’re done!

Alternatively, you may open the Userscript Manager’s Dashboard and install it from a URL:

The scripts will execute automatically when you visit or reload a page that it’s configured for, and you should see the https://jaus.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JAUS/pages/33250 in Jira’s header in about one second after the page’s loaded.

3) Using the Userscript

Userscripts have a metadata telling to the Userscript Manager in which pages it should be executed.

As an example, https://jaus.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JAUS/pages/33224 tells the Userscript Manager to only execute it on pages that contain the text “AssociateFieldToScreens“ in the URL.

You can find the list of JAUS Userscripts in the .
